Introduction

Counterfeit is something which is very harmful for business as well as it affect the life of people, due to counterfeit the business lost their reputation and also billions of dollars our focus is medical products (e.g. Panadol, brufen) it is too much important for the health of patients and also for motivation of new research, it will able people to easily able to know about the product the it is genuine or not. The people’s right to health includes the right of access to a reliable standard of healthcare anda good quality drug product. Medicines can save lives only if they are safe, efficacious, of good quality and affordable.

The use of unsafe, substandard, ineffective and counterfeit drugs can be harmful to the health of the users and the public. Governments have an obligation to ensure the safety, efficacy and quality of the drugs available to the public, which can be done by: regulating the manufacture, export, import, storage,

distribution, supply and sale of drugs, and exercising legal power to control the proliferation of unsafe counterfeit medicines.

How counterfeiting is preformed

Counterfeit products are fake items or we can say that it is the copy of original or genuine products. There is a lot of counterfeit products like in cosmetics, food etc. They are created by people who want to earn money by other’s efforts. Want to affect the reputation of company. Affect the revenue of company. Less work for avoiding counterfeit products.

Problem statement

In developing countries one of the main issues regarding business and health issues is counterfeiting. Genuine medicine plays an important role in the country’s economy. Identification and reporting of counterfeit medicine or other irregularities in medicines would not only help in avoiding accidents or damage to patient health but also help authorities to quickly arrest that person who are selling and seize the stock. Hence, medicine surveillance is important for both the purchasers (patients etc.) and authorities. Currently medicine monitoring like counterfeit medicines detection or irregularities in medicine are carried out manually by inspections team (Drug inspector). Sometimes volunteers could help in identifying fake medicine and report it to concerned authorities. But such approach is difficult as access to concerned authorities is not feasible for all volunteers. Due to which a lot of fake medicine remains undiscovered and not capture that counterfeiter. figure.1

Proposed solution

The popularity of android-based applications is increasing day by day. Different platforms have been introduced for smartphones, in the recent years. Android is one of the most popular smartphone platform. Furthermore, android is an open source and flexible platform that allows software developers easy access to rich software Application Programming Interface (API).

The main objective of this work is to develop an Android-based application for fake medicine identification and detection. Hence, our prime focus is to develop an efficient application to identify and detect fake medicine. In our proposed solution, the user is required to carry a smartphone in order to scan QR Code (Bar code) present of the product packaging.

For User

First of all, this application is made for registered users. Registered user needs to give his email id, password and CNIC number. After that registered have to be able to address about identification of fake medicine. We have also added the feature with which we can add new user.

For company

First of all, the company to register in the application. For registration of company needs to give his email id, password and License number. After that registered company have to be able to generate and scan QR code.

For pharmacist

Pharmacist will register himself in the application, for registration of distribution needs to give their required credentials like License number is very important here.

For Distributor

Distributor will register himself in the application, for registration of distribution needs to give their required credentials like License number is very important here.

For customer

Project Summary

The prime goal of our project is to plan, design, create and execute fake medicine identification system, the basic project idea is to design an Anti-counterfeit application. The Anti-counterfeit system consists of a smartphone containing a camera and internet. This system have taken data from the QR code and Image with short description. Our system have sent the complete QR code data to a cloud server via cellular network. After the data will store in fire store, then the received data will be checked with scan QR code for the identification fake pharmaceutical products. Our application have allowed user to identify fake medicines using smart phone.
